31 March 2017 / 18:00 - 21:00 Past Activity

Pera Museum is presenting a performance program entitled Look Again between March 31 and April 2, 2017 in collaboration with Performistanbul. Inspired by Pera Museum Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation’s collection exhibitions, the program features performances by artists AslieMk, Ekin Bernay, and I. Ata Doğruel.

Pera Museum’s new public program Look Again presented in collaboration with Performistanbul aims to celebrate the art of performance as well as the visitor experience through the museum’s collection exhibitions. Curated by Simge Burhanoğlu, founding director of Performistanbul Look Again will take place over three days throughout the Pera Museum’s collection exhibitions: Intersecting World: Ambassadors and Painters, Coffee Break: Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics, and Anatolian Weights and Measures. The artists I. Ata Doğruel, AslieMk, and Ekin Bernay have been working closely with the museum’s collections and will be presenting their own interpretations. This performance program hopes to facilitate a new look into the museum’s collection and exhibiting practices.

The artist duo AslieMk is presenting a performance entitled In Situ, based on the exhibition Coffee Break: The Adventure of Coffee in Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics. The performance aims to turn the exhibition space into an open and functioning laboratory, taking visitors beyond a one-way visual communication in relation to the works at the museum. The performance is based on re-creating works which can be touched and sensed once again.

Performance Schedule:
Friday, March 31, 18:00 - 21:00
Saturday, April 1, 15:00 - 18:00
Sunday, April 2, 15:00 - 18:00

AslieMk is a performance project by Aslı Dinç and Mustafa Kemal Yurttaş, where they study the nature of being a duo. Woven around concepts such as psychogeography, cosmic, ghostlike existence, and schizo-creative, the project involves site-specific installations, performative interventions, and performative sculpture experiences of the duo using new media, video, photograph, and sound. AslieMk are Performistanbul artists.

The performance “In Situ” will take place on the “Coffee Break: The Adventure of Coffee in Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics exhibition floor. Free admissions, drop in.
