Demy brings one of his favourite childhood stories, Donkey Skin by Charles Perrault ("Cinderella"), to the big screen. With his favourite actress Catherine Deneuve and the essential actor in Jean Cocteau's films, Jean Marais, he shot this delirious pop fantasy against an incestuous background, with ironic musical numbers and a clear moral: «Little girls never marry their daddies».
