Founded in 1938 as an Instructor Course and expanded into a Teacher Training School with Ali Doğan Toran as its director, Kastamonu Göl Village Institute became one of the most successful institutes with students recruited from surrounding cities (Sinop, Çorum, Çankırı and Zonguldak). 822 instructors and 1331 teachers were trained at the institute where Hilmi Bilginer and Osman Ülkümen once served as headmasters. In 2000, the institute property and buildings were transferred to the military.
