Based on a novel by Gyula Krudy, Sinbad is an evocation of memories of past romantic attachments by an aging Don Juan. Romantic and sensual, almost purely by virtue of its elaborate imagery, and for its dramatic cutting on the basis of the pure visual essence, Sinbad is praised for its strong use of color in film. The story is set around the turn of the century in Hungary.
