The Making of A Summer's Tale steps into Eric Rohmer's film, Conte d'été (A Summer's Tale). Françoise Etchegarray, assistant on the film, captures the leading director, a sprightly young man of eighty in his straw hat, on the beaches of Dinard and Saint-Lunaire in the midst of holidaymakers who seem oblivious to his presence. There is no posing here. Just a man, softly spoken, sometimes faltering, but with the ability to make decisions in a stunning flash.
