STREETART FILMS
Pera Film in collaboration with streetart istanbul and İAF presents "street art films" a film program exploring the innovations and creativity of a different kind of art - the art of and from the streets. The term street art can include traditional graffiti artwork, stencil graffiti, sticker art, wheatpasting and street poster art, video projection, art intervention, guerrilla art, flash mobbing and street installations. The feature-length films in this program include documentaries on key artists in the fields of "street art" and contemporary art: The Radiant Child the first feature length documentary biography about one of the greatest American painters in the last half of the 20th Century, the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat; Beautiful Losers a thrilling documentary film focuses on the careers and work of a collective group of artists who since the 1990s began a movement in the art world using D.I.Y.(do-it-yourself) aesthetics from skateboarding, graffiti and underground music such as punk rock and hip-hop; and lastly in the program the film The Universe of Keith Haring is an intimate portrait of world-renowned artist Keith Haring whose mantra was that "Art is for everyone!." The program is accompanied by a selected program of short films by Roman Tschiedl that entails experimental, documentary and stop-animation.
