Conference: A Collectıon, A History Thesis
A Collectıon, A History Thesis Ali Artun 17 December Saturday, 14:30
Initiated in 1990 and displayed for the first time in Ankara in 1994, the “1950-2000” collection of the Central Bank is based on a history thesis. This thesis presupposes a modernist break dated to post-World War II in Turkish art. The collection comprises a selection of works that invites viewers to read and reflect upon the local modernism in question. Both the history thesis and the collection, simultaneously offer an alternative to existing narratives pertaining to the history of Turkish art. On the other hand, “1950-2000” aspires to open a new debate on museology with the different model it develops on how a corporate collection can be utilized.
The conference will be held in Turkish, and it is free of admissions. |
