Pera Museum is now part of the Google Art Project!
Google Goes Global With Expanded Art Project

The Google Art Project is a collaboration between Google and 151 acclaimed art partners from across 40 countries. Pera Museum is proud to be part of the second phase of the Project.

From now on, with a few simple clicks of their fingers, art lovers will be able to discover not just the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Pera Museum’s Collection of Orientalist Paintings, but also its other collections, including Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics, Anatolian Weights and Measures and Old Istanbul Photographs Collection. Users can explore a wide range of artworks at brushstroke level detail, and even build their own collections to share. “The Art Project is going global, thanks to our new partners from around the entire world” says Amit Sood, Head of Art Project, Google.

An enhanced My Gallery feature allows users to select any of the 30,000 artworks - along with their favorite details - and ‘build their own personalised gallery. Comments can be added to each painting and the whole collection can then be shared with friends and family. The new Art Project includes other completely new tools called Explore and Discover. Users can find artworks by period, artist or type of artwork, displaying works from different museums around the world. Nelson Mattos, VP Engineering of Google comments “Google is committed to bringing all types of culture online and making it accessible. The Art Project demonstrates how the Internet helps spread knowledge.”

Other partners of the Project include: Tate, The Victoria & Albert Museum, The National Gallery, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), The White House, Uffizi Gallery, Rijksmuseum, Palace of Versailles, the Frick Collection, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Van Gogh Museum , Reina Sofia, and Musée d’Orsay.
