Summer Program

Pera Education’s summer program, geared towards 7-14 year-olds and created as part of the summer season education events, took place between 11 – 27 July 2012. In this program, children had a chance to visit the ongoing exhibitions Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters, Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics, and Goya: Witness of His Time – Engravings and Paintings, in addition to taking part in fun workshops, creating their own designs, and learning about the historic architecture of the museum.

MY GIGANTIC PORTRAIT

In this program, children had a chance to visit and compare the portraits of the Count and Countess of Vergennes in Turkish attire by Antoine de Favray from the Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters exhibition, and the large-scale portraits of IV. Carlos and Maria Luisa from the Goya: Witness of His Time – Engravings and Paintings exhibition. Following the exhibition tour, children created their own large-scale portraits with reference to the figurative works they have seen in the workshop.

FUN WITH CERAMICS

Viewing the Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics exhibition with their instructor, children created drawings on tracing paper, and then design two different tiles by using acetate pens and glass dyes.

DESIGNING MY OWN BUILDING

Following a workshop on the historic architecture of the Pera Museum, the children studied the museum and select buildings in the vicinity to create their own drawings. During the workshop, they designed the building of the future. Those who were interested had the chance to examine the museum in 3-D on the computer.
