Andy Warhol: Pop Art for Everyone exhibition includes selected, iconic series of works by Andy Warhol (1928-1987), such as Campbell’s Soup, Cowboys and Indians, Endangered Species, Flowers, and Ten Portraits of Jews of the 20th Century, accompanied by portraits of well-known figures such as Mick Jagger and Lenin. The exhibition is compiled from the private collection of Zoya Museum in Slovakia, Modra, and draws attention to the Warhol family’s Slovakian roots. Questioning the American way of living, using mass culture materials in his art, and trivializing the content and the form through replicability and reproducibility, Andy Warhol remains one of the most influential figures in contemporary art and culture. Included in the show are series of silkscreen prints and drawings exhibited for the first time in Turkey.
The exhibition catalogue features selected series by this most iconic name of American Pop Art, alongside articles on the art and career of Warhol, who believed popular culture to be the best thing created in America.
